China will always stand by Iran to protect its rights: Foreign Minister in phone conversation

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi today made clear Beijing’s position on the ongoing crisis in the Middle East in separate telephone conversations with the foreign ministers of Iran and Israel. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement that he assured Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi that China would always stand by “protecting Tehran’s legitimate rights and interests.”

Meanwhile, in a conversation with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, Wang Yi said that China does not support “forcing Iran to act” and that such actions threaten regional peace.

China’s dual diplomatic message signals Beijing’s growing influence in the Middle East and its active role in conflict resolution.
The recent Israeli airstrikes damaged key Iranian nuclear and military facilities, prompting Iran to retaliate with missile strikes. Tensions have been rising around the world since the incident, with China and other countries calling for restraint.

China has played a major role in peace initiatives in the Middle East in the past, notably mediating the Iran-Saudi Arabia reconciliation (March 2023).

Analysts say these phone calls are not just diplomatic messages, but also a reflection of China’s long-term policy, which prioritizes international law, regional stability, and sovereignty.

Given the direction the world is heading, China’s position is expected to be considered an important voice in future discussions.
